Happy Birthday Ella!

We celebrated Ella’s 2nd birthday today in Elmo style!!! It’s hard for daddy and I to imagine that she’s not a baby any more, but I guess we’ll soon enough have another one. Ella thought it was her good friend Audrey’s birthday today (because she remembered Audrey’s party from September). She woke up and I said, “Happy Birthday Ella!” She then replied, “Happy Birthday YOU YOU- Audrey’s house?” But by the end of the day, after presents and friends and singing, I think she figured it all. Mommy, daddy, Mimi and Nanna were all here to celebrate, with lots of friends too. Let’s just say, she’s ready to open presents for Christmas! Every time a new friend would walk in she’d squeal and scream and immediately start to engage them in playing with her. We had hot dogs, chips (Cheetos for the bday girl), juice boxes and Elmo cake made by Nanna! Favorite gifts included a kitchen, a rocking chair, a talking Nemo, sparkly pink shoes, an Elmo towel, a drum and tambourine set and a Little People nativity set. She also loved new puzzles, books and dress up stuff. We’re hoping she loves her new room and new bed. See posted pics from the party fun and room makeover…..
We’re enjoying her so much- even through the tough toddler days! She’s a big talker…..we were reading in the chair the other day and she said, “Pat baby.” So, she pulled up my shirt, got down by my belly button and said, “You okay baby sister? Ok. Bye.” Kissed my stomach, then pulled my shirt down and started reading again. I laughed my head off! No, we don’t know if it’s yet a brother or a sister, but we’ll find out in two weeks!
Here are some Ella-isms:
-Joel had a toothpick in his mouth the other day and Ella looked at him and said, “Daddy workin’ on teef.”
-She learned our names and when daddy walked in the door one day she said, “Ahhh, Joel!”
-“Joel, Eminy, Ella…..my FAMILY!”
-She loves to point at things and ask us, “What’s dat dere?”
-“What are you do-ning? Where are you go-ning? A baby’s cry-ning”
-“Mommy dood it.”
-We spent Saturday night before Thanksgiving with Aunt Liz and Uncle Andrew. As we were leaving, we taught her to say, “See you Thursday!” So, as we were leaving church and Sunday school the next day, Ella said to people as we were leaving church, “See you Thursday!”
Ella Claire, mommy and daddy love you so very much! Happy Birthday YOU YOU sweet girl!
